AI alignment,
utopia,
anthropics,
and more;
this might be a complete waste of brainflops, but sometimes i wonder about "cosmic missing outs".
my typical example for those is the culture of modern japan.
imagine timelines where japan never became the country it did, and we never got its culture. that'd be a huge thing to miss out on, right? the second best thing might be korean culture or something like that.
but, now that you've imagined this timeline that is missing out on modern japan culture, imagine the opposite: there are timelines out there that have those great cultures of countries that we're missing out on, that us missing out on is kind of on the same scale as those other timelines missing out on japan's culture.
i'm talking about this because i just thought of some other things kind of of this type:
what are some unknown things that we are missing out on, that us missing out on is kind of like if other timelines were missing out on music?
what are some unknown things that we are missing out on, that us missing out on is kind of like if other timelines were missing out on philosophy, science, or math?
these speculations are the closest i can get to putting human minds into perspective and considering the existence of things entirely outside of human conception, the way many things are entirely outside of a mouse or ant's ability to conceive.
to be clear: i still can't have that consideration, this is only the closest i get, but it's not quite there.
